Fans are looking forward to Kresta, Enge or Jan Šťovíček

27. 8. 2021 - Jakub Kudláč

Fans of the Barum Czech Rally Zlín can look forward to a special performance on the city circuit on Friday 27 August. Roman Kresta and Tomáš Enge will take the route in a Škoda Fabia WRC and Mohammed ben Sulayem will take co-driver Jan Šťovíček, President of the Autoclub of the Czech Republic, in a Ford Fiesta Rally3.

Roman Kresta will get behind the wheel of the Fabia WRC at the Super Special Stage through the center of Zlín, where he will always drive in front of the starting field. During the ceremonial start, however, he admitted that he also had thoughts about an active start at the 50th Barum rally. "At the beginning, I also considered whether to drive the 50th edition as an active driver, but many things happened during the year, so I left the car to Tomáš Kostka. We tried to prepare it as the best as we could," said 45-year-old Roman Kresta.

On Saturday, he will switch roles with Tomáš Enge, who will be behind the wheel at the Březová SS. "I am looking forward to it so much. I had the opportunity to try the car in the morning and it is brutal, it has about 500 to 600 horsepowers. I'm looking forward to Saturday, and Roman will enjoy a bus station full of people," said the only Czech driver in Formula 1 so far.

The second special couple will be formed by former Arab front driver, now FIA official, Mohammed ben Sulayem from the United Arab Emirates, whose co-driver will be the president of the Autoclub of the Czech Republic Jan Šťovíček. "We will introduce ourselves to you in a beautiful Ford Fiesta Rally3, it is a brand-new. It's running quite fast, so keep your fingers crossed for us," Šťovíček told the fans on the Zlín square.
