Radiožurnál is a public radio station. It is a part of Český rozhlas (Czech Radio), which is a Czech public service broadcaster initiated by legislation. Radiožurnál offers 24/7 fast and quality information service about current affairs in the Czech Republic and abroad. It brings news from the economy, politics, culture, and sport, but also up-to-date information on traffic. It offers instant and fast news at any time and has priority over any scheduled program.

The history of Czech Radio dates back to the 1920s. Regular radio broadcasting started on 18th May 1923 from a scout tent in Prague-Kbely and broadcasted for an hour on a long wave. A short announcement and a concert were part of the radio broadcast. Czechoslovakia was one of the first European countries to have a regular radio broadcasting service. Czech Radio and its news station Radiožurnál have always played an essential role in Czechoslovakian history as well the Czech Republic's.
