Barum Rally Song

27. 9. 2024 - Roman Ordelt

BARUM CZECH RALLY ZLÍN, the prestigious competition of the European championship is regularly followed by a number of innovations not only in the sports field. For example, the organizers from Zlín, in addition to a wide accompanying program, were in previous years part of a the beginning of the unique project Jedu na dřeň. To promote the competition an original video clip called Happy rally was created, where everyone danced to the hit song of singer Pharrell Williams. This year they prepared another novelty, the Barum Rally Song performed by the Niemandi band.

The Zlín Rally is one of the most visited motoring events in the Czech Republic. The race, which takes place regularly in mid-August, attracted 56,000 unique spectators this year, which means a respectable 270,000 fans in cumulative attendance! "Fans know that, in addition to the classic rally, we have been organizing the Star Rally Historic for many years, an electric car competition, events for children, we have organized the Zlín bike race, the Czech Drive car and motorcycle exhibition and other accompanying programs. What we thought about for a long time and what we lacked so far was a central rally song, a song about the Barum rally. At the same time, we wanted to make the attractiveness of the Zlín region and the city of Zlín more visible and, above all, to attract more fans from the Czech Republic and from all over the world, to our region," said Ing. Jan Regner, director of Barum Czech Rally Zlín.

The choice fell quite logically on a young band from Zlín called Niemandi, whose frontman is Václav Tarabus, the son of a successful competition driver, multiple Czech champion and Barum rally ambassador Jaromír Tarabus. In the past, he started at the Zlín rally twenty-three times and secured third place eleven years ago. "This wonderful connection was created. We approached a young band, the guys composed the lyrics themselves and then they wrote the music. The song was recorded over the summer in the professional recording and production studio Sunteem records," explained Jan Regner. The owner of the said studio, Petr Kopčil, said: "I've experienced a lot, but recording this song was really something extreme. There was 35 degrees outside and in the studio even ten degrees more thanks to the analog equipment we recorded with. The guys were well prepared and easy to work with. I believe it will take the band further in their career."

The organizers of the Barum rally wanted not only the song itself, but also a viral video clip, inspired by Happy. Audiovisual creator Matěj Brothánek took this work under his wings. It was filmed not only at the city super special stage and in Slušovice town, but also at the landmark 21st bulding of the regional capital or in the reconstructed Sun Spa in Luhačovice. "We believe that the new clip will be liked and will attract even more visitors to the Zlín region, the city of Zlín and the Czech Republic. It is the fans who create a great atmosphere at Barum rally, and we need to thank them for that," said director Jan Regner.

The boy band Niemandi was formed four years ago. The founding members were classmates from the 9th grade of the elementary school in Želechovice nad Dřevnicí. "Years ago, none of us could play any music, and that's what the name of the band came from. The Barum rally offer was a great honor for us. We never dreamed it would be on such a large scale. The filming was very professional and we are of course very satisfied with the final result. We play covers of songs in the style of rock and beat, but we also compose our own rock music, which should be given a fresh youthful vibe. From our original songs, the song "Tady a teď" is played the most at concerts," said musician Václav Tarabus. You can listen to Barum rally's new song on the official YouTube channel.
