What weather to prepare for at the Barum rally weekend?
16. 8. 2024 - Vojtěch Gargulák
Hot summer temperatures, but also approaching thunderstorms and heavy rains. Visitors of the 53rd BARUM CZECH RALLY ZLÍN 2024 should expect all of this. According to the forecast, the weather in Zlín region should be very changeable during the weekend. The unpredictable weather could be one of the key factors of this year's biggest rally racing event in the Czech Republic.
Similarly to last year, the start of the competition should be accompanied by tropical temperatures. During Friday's program, which includes the qualification stage, the ceremonial start on the Zlín square and the evening urban stage, temperatures will exceed 30 degrees. However, the weather situation could change dramatically on Saturday.
"The weather in the Czech Republic will be affected by the approaching cold front during the weekend, strong thunderstorms accompanied by dangerous meteorological phenomena such as hail or torrential rainfall of 40 millimetres and wind gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour may occur locally. The storms are expected to reach the Zlín region on Saturday around 4 pm. On Sunday, the storms may also be strong and will again come in waves," said meteorologist Dagmar Honsová.
The event may be significantly influenced by the changing weather, both for the fans at the stages and for the crews themselves, who will probably have to make some tricky decisions about tyre selection and car set-up for the individual sections.
