Barum rally is a matter of heart for Styllex

12. 8. 2024 - Daniel Porazil

In just a few hours, the launch of an extensive publication dedicated to the history of the Styllex team will take place in the Golden Apple in Zlín in the presence of a number of important personalities. This location is no coincidence. After all, the Zlín competition is very popular for the Slovak organisation and thanks to the results of Enrico Bertone and Jozef Beres, the same applies in reverse.

Looking at the gallery of Barum rally winners, it is clear that the orange-blue-white team has left an indelible mark on the history of the event. "The launch of our book at the Barum rally was an obvious choice. When not competing here, we almost always went to watch," confided Michal Koči, who won the Barum rally twice alongside Enrico Bertone, and continued: "The unique atmosphere from the 1980s and 1990s hasn't really changed much here, and that's the magic of this rally. Traditionally there are a lot of spectators here and many of them remember our successes." The agreement to work with the organisers came about almost immediately. "The Styllex results have made the history of the Barum Rally, so we are very pleased that the launch of the new book will take place in Zlín," said Barum Rally's Clerk of the Course Jan Regner, adding that he was looking forward to meeting the guests at the launch, including Enrico Bertone, John Haugland and Tomáš Hrdinka. "We also appreciated Styllex's efforts to remind the fans of the untimely sixty-fifth birthday of Jiří Sedlář, a legendary rally racer from our region," he added.

The book launch is divided into two parts, reflecting the backdrop of the usual setting associated with the Barum rally and its autograph sessions. Visitors will be attracted at first sight by the two cars on display - a Ford Escort RS Cosworth in Styllex colours from 1996 and a replica of the Škoda 130 LR of the AMK JZD Podhoran team. "We are delighted that in addition to the guests of the launch itself, Josef Sivík, Pavel Valoušek Sr., Josef Častulík and Ladislav Křeček will also attend. They will remain available to the fans after the opening part of the book launch, followed by a big autograph session," explained Dan Porazil, co-author of the book.

The launch at the Golden Apple Shopping Centre in Zlín will be hosted by Markéta Srbová from O2 TV's Týden v motorsportu ("Motorsport Week") on Tuesday 13 August at 5.30 pm. The new book can be ordered in the Kanzelsberger bookstore e-shop, and also on the website www.retro-auta.com. It will also be on sale during the launch in the Golden Apple.
