The main prize of the photo contest goes abroad for the sixth time

28. 7. 2024 - Roman Ordelt

On the occasion of last year's 52nd Barum Czech Rally Zlín 2023, a traditional photo competition was announced. The main prize goes abroad again, this time the international jury awarded the photo of a photographer from Germany, as the winner is Jörg Ullmann from Ellefeld. The prizes for the photo competition were donated by RALLYMODELS - Antonín Babík, JNK Studio Zlín - the most experienced rally video studio in the Czech Republic and ALITRON CZ, s.r.o. which prepared a one-year subscription of the specialized motoring magazine RALLY for the winners.

Auto club Barum Zlín in cooperation with the agency ZLIN PRESS production announced a photo contest in a joint category for professional photojournalists and amateurs in a single category of digital photography. The expert jury consisting of Miloslav Regner (Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Barum Czech Rally Zlín), Ing. Jan Regner (Clerk of the Course of Barum Czech Rally Zlín), Roman Ordelt (owner of ZLIN PRESS production) and representatives of the international jury awarded five additional prizes besides three financial ones.

"Every year we are pleasantly surprised by the high number of participating photographers from many European countries, with the main prize going abroad again. We are delighted that the photo competition has a steadily rising level of professional motoring photographers are increasingly making their mark on the top ranks. The international jury, made up of a number of personalities from the rally community, does not have it easy, as they evaluate a really large number of competition images. I believe that the Czech photographers will not be put to shame this year and the first place for the 2024 contest will return home after three years," said Miloslav Regner, Chairman of the Jury and Chairman of the Organising Committee of Barum Czech Rally Zlín.

Foreign photographers are celebrating a clean hat trick in the Zlín photo competition, as last year Gábor Sándor Nagy from Hungary and the year before Rafal Roguski from Poland burned the pond. The first place went abroad in 2017 too, when another Polish photographer, Marcin Rybak from Łódź, defended his title from the previous year. Hungary has celebrated twice in the past, with Gergély Makai from Budapest winning the photo contest in 2013 and 2014. Germany triumphed in the Barum rally photo contest for the first time in history.

The ten-member international jury was again composed of drivers, co-drivers or people from the rally community. The jury members were Martin Bill (Czech Republic), Eyvind Brynildsen (Norway), Callum Devine (Ireland), Alexandru Filip (Romania), Jean-Baptiste Franceschi (France), Jara Hain (Germany), Jacob Madsen (Denmark), Attila Nagy (Hungary), Samu Vaaleri (Finland) and Rachele Somaschini (Italy).

The photo competition of Barum rally has had a very positive feedback and support among motorsport fans every year, with the standard of the photos submitted increasing constantly. This is also demonstrated by the great interest of the participants, as last year's photo competition received a total of 1,245 entries from 302 authors. In addition to the three main prizes, the jury awarded five more prizes in accordance with the rules.
