Barum Czech Rally Zlín expects both tropics and rain

26. 8. 2022 - Vlastimil Motýl

According to the current weather forecast of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI), it seems that the 51st Barum Czech Rally Zlín, which is held as a regular part of the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) and the Czech Rally Championship 2022 (MCR) from 26 to 28 August, will start in typical summer conditions without rain, but meteorologists expect showers and rain on Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday 26 August in the evening, during the extremely attractive Super Special Stage, taking place mainly in the former Svitov area in the centre of Zlín, temperatures are expected to climb up over thirty degrees of Celsius. At the same time, the forecast promises clear sky.
On Saturday 27 August, according to the CHMI website, it should be initially partly cloudy to fully cloudy in the Zlín region. Locally it may be almost clear but in forested areas it may be foggy. During the day, clouds will spread over most of the area, bringing showers, but also thunderstorms of varying intensity. Night-time lows of 14-18 °C, highs of 25-29 °C. Light south-west to west wind of 1 - 4 m/s, intensifying in thunderstorms occasionally.

On Sunday 28 August, the rain situation should be even worse. It will be mostly cloudy, showers or rain with occasional thunderstorms, more frequent in the east of the Zlín region. Later in the evening and at night we expect the precipitation to stop and the clouds to break. Night-time lows of 14-18 °C, daytime highs of 21-25 °C. We can expect light and gentle north-west wind of 2 - 6 m/s.
