Barum rally expects cold and rainy conditions

26. 8. 2021 - Vojtěch Jurák

The drivers and spectators should prepare for unfavourable weather. The jubilee 50th edition of the Barum Czech Rally Zlín, which is organised as a part of the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) and of the Czech Rally Championship (MCR), is going to face mostly cold and probably rainy conditions.

On Friday evening during the super special stage in the city centre of Zlín, the temperature will fall near to ten degrees Celsius. Further, the coldness will remain as the temperature won’t probably reach more than eighteen degrees Celsius.

Although the sun can emerge from behind the clouds from time to time, according to the weather forecast people should expect wetness. “On Friday afternoon, it will be overcast and rainy over the whole event area and the conditions will be about the same most of Sunday. Otherwise, the sky should be cloudy, alternatively partly cloudy,” informed meteorologist Dagmar Honsová.

The jubilee edition of the Barum Czech Rally Zlín starts on Friday 27th August at 17:00. The drivers are going to introduce themselves to the fans at the city square náměstí Míru. Further, the competitors must get over more than 210 kilometres divided into fifteen special stages. Besides the various-quality tarmac it should be the rainy weather that will make the racing conditions harder.

The spectator super special stage, which hasn’t missed a single edition of the Barum rally since 2005, is traditionally going to open the competition. The attractive start of the rally is going to be held after dark in the streets of the city of Zlín. The stage track for this year was changed due to the building operations at the intersection of streets Vodní and Bartošova.
