24. 8. 2017 - Roman Ordelt

A new member of the commentary team, Martin Straka is just one of the many new things of Barum Czech Rally Zlín 2017. His unforgettable voice is surely familiar to all TV fans of the best car races like 24 Hours of Le Mans and Indianapolis 500. Some might recognise him from Grand Prix Czech Republic MotoGP which is in Brno on Masarykův Okruh.

'I can't wait! All my friends know that my heart is in circuits but Barum rally is a legend, the biggest rally far and wide,' said Straka. 'I was here many times as a photographer or a journalist. It was always great and exhilarating experience. I won't forget the premiere of Super Special Stage and I'm very happy to commentate on it with my colleagues.'

Martin Straka was suggested by Josef Vrátil who works as a Rally and Circuit Steward and he is a very good friend of Miloslav Regner, Clerk of Barum Czech Rally Zlín. 'Somewhere around the end of winter, he asked, whether I'd be interested in Barum rally. I simply laughed, how could he asked such question. We quickly made a deal with Barum rally management.'

Fans could be interested in Straka's interconnection between the big worlds of rally and circuits. 'It's just amazing that Romain Dumas is coming here for the first time! He won twice Le Mans, ruled Pikes Peak, fights on Dakar and this weekend he's gonna race with Porsche GT3. His story is getting bigger with every race. Walter Röhrl, Tomáš Enge, Stephane Sarrazin and many others. Commenting Barum rally is just as prestigious for me as 24 Hours of Le Mans, Indy 500 and MotoGP in Brno,' Martin Straka added.
