Tarabus & Trunkát at Barum Rally in Škoda Fabia R5
6. 8. 2015 - Aleš Holakovský
Jaromír Tarabus and Daniel Trunkát will be one of the first private crews in the world starting with the Škoda Fabia R5. Their premiere performance with the new car will be played at their domestic event Barum Czech Rally Zlin.
Jaromír Tarabus now holds 8th position overall in FIA European Rally Championship provisional standings. Battle for other ERC points from Barum Czech Rally Zlin will be marked by learning to drive new, eagerly anticipated car: "Thanks to Roman Kresta and his Kresta Racing we will get as first Czech private team an opportunity to start with Škoda Fabia R5. We are very pleased and at the same time it is also a big responsibility for us. The car will be of course completely new for us and for the whole team," confirms tense anticipation co-driver and crew manager in one person Daniel Trunkát.
"We look forward to this new Czech car and especially to a new challenge that will be to learn how to use driveability of the car fully in the shortest possible time. We hope that we will be able to pass successfully some testing kilometers and during it to find a satisfactory set-up of the car for us and get familiar with R5 as much as possible. Of course it is true that any test can't replace the real competition. Unfortunately, before the Barum Rally we will not manage to attend any other earlier race. Therefore, our first racing experience with the Fabia R5 will be just Barum Rally," desribes the closest program priorities driver Jaromír Tarabus. "It will be a big change for me after all, because I have only one race-experience with turbocharged engine for my whole career. It was when I started in production Mitsubishi right at Barum Rally in 2011," added Tarabus.
"We are aware of the qualities of this new car, but on the other hand, first we need to get acquainted enough with the car and than we could try to take up on our excellent results at the Barum Rally from the last three years," says co-driver of the crew, which managed to be at fourth, third and fifth place overall in recent years at Barum Rally and last year won prestigious Colin McRae Flat Out Trophy there and a separate classification of the second leg as well. "Finally, our thanks belong to our partners, because without them the start with the new car could not take place," concludes Daniel Trunkát.
