New book about Barum rally’s history is coming out
31. 7. 2015 - Jakub Hofbauer
Barum Czech Rally Zlín was born in 1971 and back then it was a short competition for amateur drivers. Soon it became an event for professional drivers gradually gaining reputation not only within Czechoslovakia. It managed to be an acclaimed event of the international FIA ERC series.
Its rich, more than four decades long history is depicted in a brand new book called Barum Czech Rally Zlín - evropská stopa (European path). Jakub Hofbauer's publication in many ways follows a book published in 2010 at the occasion of Barum rally's fortieth birthday. However, this book primarily contains exclusive photos and focuses on the recent years as Barum Czech Rally Zlín has been connected to IRC and FIA ERC. "Our aim was to create something that would be first and foremost a feast for the eyes. At the same time it is a not classical photography book because we added comments and sidelights to all years and to the history of Barum Team as well. Barum Team was in the seventies and eighties another part of Barum's marketing strategy," said Miloslav Regner, Clerk of the Course. "For a very long time our co-workers have been systematically preparing and digitizing our photo archive which offers fantastic photos from the very beginning of this rally competition. Thanks to their hard work we can now enjoy an amazing view to the past. And their work is not finished yet as there are way more things waiting to brought to light. So we have to be patient and wait until these photo-jewels can be published. Nonetheless, this book contains color photos which were ready," said Regner.
The book did not forget the foreign fans of the Barum Czech Rally Zlín and it was made in a bilingual edition - Czech and English. The book is published in 2,000 copies and contains results and statistics. It has 160 pages for amicable price 11 EUR. You can purchase the book at the e-shop on www.visitrally.cz or at the Rally secretariat on Hornomlýnská street in Zlín.
