The Colin McRae ERC Flat Out Trophy goes to Jaromír Tarabus

1. 9. 2014 - Roman Ordelt, press relations officer BCRZ

The trophy is awarded at every FIA European Rally Championship race and the winner is chosen by a special jury. The jury comprises of celebrities like the ERC Sports Manager Jean-Pierre Nicolas, the Eurosport Editing Manager Gilbert Roy or Colin's father Jimmy McRae. At every FIA ERC race the driver whose performance embodies the spirit of the rally legend Colin McRae the best, wins the trophy. At Barum Czech Rally Zlín 2014 it was Jaromír Tarabus.

He was awarded by Jean-Pierre Nicolas at the top crews' press conference. 'After the jury consideration we decided to award Jaromír Tarabus. He experienced lots of technical difficulties that he successfully dealt with,' said Nicolas. Tarabus, the racer from Zlín, occupied fifth place in the final standings, while losing only 0, 8 seconds for the fourth position. Hadn't it been for the mistake in the second running at Maják, he could have placed in the top 3 like last year, when coming in third. 'I have got mixed feelings about this year's rally, but this award is like an icing on a cake. We went out of the road when I was long on brakes in a turn over the horizon. We only got back on track thanks to the fans' help, but it roughly cost us a minute and forty seconds,' said the 37 year-old driver, who regularly races for the Czech National Team in this year's ERC.
